Romans 8:26 “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers[l] in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together[m] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Surrendering to God means daily call to action. We no longer belong to ourselves we belong to God. Our priorities become different as Jesus’ followers. We don’t live to please ourselves because we are God’s servant/slave. Surrendering can sound very passive but it is not when it comes to the Christian life. Surrendering is a daily, no a minute by minute, life-style that puts Jesus in charge of all that you are. Too often I have tried to “Americanize” my faith to fit my desire to pursue the American Dream. I have slowly been able to recalibrate my inner compass to True North in an attempt to be more biblical in my faith. It hasn’t been easy. It’s like deprogramming 50 years of my life. But as I serve Jesus in Rwanda it is becoming clear that my life will never be the same.
